Description

En savoir plus

This book serves as an addition, hence En Plus, to the classic textbook Finite Element Procedures by the same author (now available in two volumes). This book covers the major developments in finite element methods during the last two decades, adding substantially to the material presented in the book Finite Element Procedures. The basic philosophy of this En Plus book is the same as for the Finite Element Procedures book. The En Plus shall not present a survey of recent developments but only focus on, quoting from the earlier Preface, basic Finite Element Procedures, very useful in engineering and the sciences and that will probably be employed for many years to come . This book serves as an essential resource for students and professionals, to enrich their knowledge of engineering analysis.

Table des matières

Introduction.- Advances in Shell Elements.- The Overlapping Finite Elements.- Direct time integration schemes.- The Bathe subspace iteration procedure -- accelerated.- Machine learning to enrich finite element procedures.

A propos de l'auteur

Klaus-Jürgen Bathe is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Massachusetts, USA. He has published numerous articles, several textbooks and books and was an Editor-in-Chief of the international journal ‘Computers and Structures’ from 1998 to 2023. He currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the ‘Machine Learning for Computational Science and Engineering’ journal for Springer. Professor Bathe is also the Founder of the company ADINA R & D, Inc, that he sold to Bentley Systems, Inc in April 2022. ADINA is used world-wide in mechanical and civil engineering, and infrastructure development. With his research, the book “Finite Element Procedures” and the finite element computer programs SAP IV, NONSAP, and ADINA developed by him, Prof. Bathe has made pioneering contributions to the field of Computational Engineering. He has been honored by the ASME, ASCE, U.S. National Academy of Engineering, M.I.T., and ten doctorates from many Universities worldwide for his teaching, his pioneering and widely used contributions in engineering and the sciences, and for bridging the world between Academia and Industry.
