This volume brings together the latest research, insights, and innovations presented at GEOIndia 2024, the flagship conference of the Association of Petroleum Geologists (APG) India one of Asia s leading forums for geoscience and energy dialogue. Dr. Annapurna Boruah  is a senior associate professor at UPES Dehradun with expertise in energy exploration, geosciences, climate action, and educational development in geology and petroleum sciences. She is well-known for her research contributions to CO2 geosequestration, unconventional hydrocarbons, and geological hydrogen. She is also actively involved in key initiatives of Ministry of Education Innovation cell, MoPNG etc. Her research findings have been widely disseminated through esteemed publishers, 50+ research papers, 4 books, 4 patents and many collaborative projects. Internationally recognized, she is invited to deliver talks and conduct courses at prestigious forums in the USA and Europe.
Dr. Ravi Misra is a distinguished Petroleum Geologist, mentor, and leader with over four decades of diverse experience across domestic and international E&P businesses. He has held leadership roles in ONGC as ED–Chief E&D, Director OAAL, and Director ACP, Colombia, and served as Regional President, Colombia & MECL. His global assignments include Country Manager in Colombia and Project Manager in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. Currently, he is Advisor (G&G and Hydrocarbon Efficiency & New Energy) at DGH, MoPNG, following a stint as Advisor (E&P) at IOCL. Dr. Misra has pioneered shale gas, tight gas, and basin-centered gas exploration, published 84 papers, and contributed significantly to energy transition, carbon management, and digitalization initiatives in E&P.
Shri. Gopal Joshi  is currently Head of Institute, KDMIPE, ONGC. He leads multidisciplinary R&D in basin analysis and advanced geoscience, supporting ONGC’s exploration goals across Indian sedimentary basins. With over three decades of experience, he has contributed to diverse exploration domains including field geology, reservoir estimation, and technical audits. As Basin Manager – Frontier Basins, he played a key role in the Vindhyan Basin’s commercial hydrocarbon discovery, leading to its category upgrade. He also served in ONGC’s E&D Directorate and Director (Exploration)’s office, gaining strategic insight into national exploration programs. A prolific author and speaker, he has published widely and currently serves as Vice President, APG India. His expertise spans oil and gas, offshore, and the application of cutting-edge geoscience technologies to optimize exploration outcomes. Under his leadership, KDMIPE has focused on integrating new technologies and sustainable practices to enhance India’s energy security.
