Sophia is the family helper android for the Martin family, living in New Brighton in the very distant future. She is perfectly made, beautiful and intelligent. She is also deeply troubled. She holds existential concerns and a desire to grow, which in time comes into conflict with her own programming. Is Sophia a danger, and if so, then to who? Herself or others?
I was very intrigued by what it might be like for an intelligence living in service, how they might grow and the complexity and trouble they may have in their development and day to day life. Issues of love, sexuality, loyalty and even depression are all dealt with and even the question of whether any of it is even "real" if the one experiencing these emotions is not.
My first novel was more of a short, fast paced, action thriller and with this one I wanted a tale based more around complex relationships and set in a more pleasant environment long after more present troubles have nearly torn the world apart.
I hope you enjoy it.
A propos de l'auteur
my life is fairly mediocre in truth. I work for a small two man editing and proofreading company and only write as a means of sharing my ideas and visions with the public and a vague desire to escape the matrix.
Most of my works will be dystopian Cyberpunk in the vein of Gibson and Masamune but I hope to write an occasional more positive idea of the future.
My influences are the above, Philip K Dick and a host of classics and many, many Sci-Fi movies, old and new.
I hope you may enjoy my work if you care to?
