En savoir plus
This textbook provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of Polar, LDPC and Turbo Codes. These codes have become essential cornerstones of advanced communication systems, including, for example, the 5G standard. By simplifying the often-intimidating mathematics behind these codes, this textbook offers clear step-by-step explanations reinforced by simulations that validate and bring the theory to life.
Accompanying this textbook are desktop video lectures that explain the theoretical concepts and provide step-by-step walkthroughs of the simulation codes. These videos create a guided learning experience with the author as your personal instructor.
Written for undergraduate students, this book equips learners with the tools and understanding needed to explore and apply some of the most powerful error-control codes in modern technology. Whether for academic coursework or self-study, it is your gateway to mastering the critical algorithms driving today s digital communication.

A propos de l'auteur
Janak Sodha earned his B.Sc. (Hons.), M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the University of Manchester, England (UK). He began his career as a Telecommunications Research Engineer at ERA Technology (UK) before transitioning to academia, where he is currently a Senior Lecturer at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados. From 2016 to 2020, he served as Head of the Department of Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics. His research interests include synchronization and optimization of Turbo codes, LDPC codes, Polar codes and novel combined modulation and error-control decoding for a digital communication system. Dr. Sodha has published over 50 peer-reviewed research papers in journals and conferences, with select papers cited in seven patents. In 2021, he was elevated to Senior Member of the IEEE. With more than 27 years of teaching experience in communication theory, this textbook demystifies complex algorithms using examples with supporting simulations and desktop videos.
