Aymo Brunetti (1963) ist ordentlicher Professor für Wirtschaftspolitik und Regionalökonomie am Departement Volkswirtschaftslehre der Universität Bern. Zudem ist er Direktor des Center for Regional Economic Development (CRED) an der Universität Bern.
Brunetti studierte Nationalökonomie an der Universität Basel, wo er 1992 auch doktorierte und sich 1996 habilitierte. 1994/1995 verbrachte er ein Jahr als Visiting Scholar am Department of Economics der Harvard University. In den Jahren 1997-1999 war er vollamtlicher Vertreter eines ordentlichen Professors an der Universität des Saarlandes in Saarbrücken. Zudem hatte er Beratungsmandate für die Weltbank und die International Finance Corporation inne.
Im März 1999 trat Brunetti ins Eidgenössische Volkswirtschaftsdepartement ein, zunächst als Vizedirektor des Bundesamtes für Wirtschaft und Arbeit. Ab Juli 1999 war er Mitglied der Geschäftsleitung im Staatssekretariat für Wirtschaft (SECO) und dort für den Leistungsbereich Wirtschaftspolitische Grundlagen zuständig. 2003 übernahm er die Leitung der Direktion für Wirtschaftspolitik im SECO und übte diese Position bis zu seinem Ausscheiden aus dem Bundesdienst Ende Januar 2012 aus.
Aymo Brunetti ist verheiratet und hat zwei Kinder.
