Gains and losses of those affected by dams: Salto Caxias Dam-PR-BR - The case of the Nova União community in Cascavel - Paraná

The struggles and confrontations that took place between landowners, tenants, sharecroppers and the Company during the construction of the Salto Caxias Dam deserve special mention. The people's struggles against a large energy company, which resulted in losses and gains, but managed to win through organization and political gains in the process, have been the subject of several works in Brazil. The organization through CRABI, which was responsible for negotiating on behalf of those affected, was one of the greatest gains that the people affected made and its effects are still felt today.
