Description
Explore the Metaverse's role in centralizing industrial data. This book introduces the methodology and applications of extended reality (XR) technologies in the life cycle of complex systems as a natural part of model-based systems engineering (MBSE). The integration of extended realities within the Metaverse opens up new possibilities for immersive experiences and enhanced collaboration, making them an indispensable tool to optimize the workflow in large organizations and SMEs. Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies enable users to interact with digital models in a more intuitive manner.
Starting with the basis of model-based systems engineering, the book is structured into six building blocks (chapters) that outline the process needed to understand how to create and support industrial activities using immersive technology. You'll see how teams can collaborate remotely in shared virtual spaces, breaking down geographical, language, and shared content barriers while fostering creativity and innovation. Interviews are then provided in chapter 7, in which experts share their experiences deploying the building blocks of the Metaverse in their organization.
Industrial Metaverse Building Blocks offers practical insights into the benefits and implementation of mixed reality, guiding you on effectively integrating the technology into your organization to drive innovation and achieve strategic goals.

A propos de l'auteur
Alessandro Migliaccio, CEng, graduated from Delft University of Technology with a degree in Space Systems Engineering, and is currently working as a Product Owner at Airbus Operations. An expert in mixed reality technology and an aspiring futurist, with over 10 years experience in aeronautical companies in several countries, he has led data analytics projects aimed at the optimization and tailoring of maintenance programs of aircrafts. A Chartered Engineer from the Royal Aeronautical Society, he is passionate about refining his skills by finding new ways to improve teamwork with new paradigms based on professional fulfilment, nurturing of talents and democratization of niche technologies. To this aim, he founded AIShed as an association of voluntary talents dedicated to outreach and research.
Giovanni Iannone is a graduate of 'Università degli Studi di Napoli' in Italy with a degree in Mechanical Engineering for Design and Manufacturing, and a Master's degree in Systems Engineering from MS&T (USA). An expert in aeronautical structures and continuous airworthiness on large airplanes, with over 10 years working in state departments, he has taken a critical interest in the decision-making process by different mathematical approaches. A member of INCOSE for several years, he presented at ASEC2014 on decision-making algorithms in the sport business.
Mark Sage is CEO of Sagey11 Ltd, a consultancy company helping startups, scaleups and large companies develop strategies and go-to-market plans to benefit from Enterprise Augmented Reality (AR) technology. An MBA qualified entrepreneur, Mark is also the Executive Director of the Augmented Reality Enterprise Alliance (AREA), the only global, membership-funded non-profit alliance dedicated to helping accelerate the adoption of Enterprise Augmented Reality (AR) by supporting the growth of a comprehensive ecosystem, as well as a subject matter expert for AR at MIT Horizons and at the Digital Engineering Technology & Innovation (DETI) project. He enjoys mentoring startups and new CEOs and guest lecturing at various universities across the world on the benefits and how to successfully deploy enterprise AR solutions.
