En savoir plus

From award-winning author Tommy Greenwald comes a thrilling companion novel to Game Changer that explores the growing pressures in youth sports, and the lengths some parents will go to make sure their kid comes out on top Cal Klondike and Henry Goshen have an unusual friendship for two reasons. One reason is the age difference: Cal is fifteen and Henry is seventy-one. The other reason is how they became friends in the place: the near-tragic incident that’s tied them together forever . . . Cal’s life revolves around baseball. He’s the team’s star-pitcher who’s just perfected a slow curve ball that’s sure to bring his team to victory this season. Everyone from his coach to his dad to the town newspaper knows Cal has a bright future in this sport. But when Cal’s talents draw interest from college scouts, he begins to wonder if everyone’s taking the game a little too seriously–especially his dad. As the season kicks into high gear, tensions that have been bubbling under the surface finally boil over, culminating in a confrontation that could change Cal’s relationship to baseball forever.
