This book examines the Role of Films in National Development in Africa; Problems and prospects using movie industries and movie viewers in Abuja as a case study. The study discovers that Nigerian film industries are promoting the country's cultural values and building youth talents. However, they face challenges such as poor funding, inadequate production equipment, poor scripting, and poor story research. Nigerian home movie industries can enhance national development through stories that focus on the peaceful coexistence of Nigeria, address corruption, promote good governance, and showcase Nigerian culture. It is recommended that the Nigerian Film Censors Commission should scrutinize films before release to ensure they uphold cultural values and national unity. The government should also provide more funding and training support for the film industry to improve production quality and promote Nigerian culture globally.
