Vor 50 Jahren luden die Rolling Stones zu einer Zirkusshow ein, die bis heute ihres gleichen sucht: The Rolling Stone Rock and Roll Circus. Als Gastgeber und Attraktion inszenierten die Stones den Rock And Roll Circus vor einem Live-Publikum in London. Neben den Stones waren im Programm außerordentliche Künstler wie The Who, Jethro Tull, Taj Mahal, Marianne Faithfull, Yoko Ono und The Dirty Mac, der Supergroup um Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Mitch Mitchell von The Jimi Hendrix Experience und John Lennon.

Die Limited Deluxe Edition enthält die Originalaufnahmen der Show auf Blu-Ray und DVD, den 2CD Soundtrack und ein gebundenes 44-seitiges Booklet. Das Booklet enthält David Daltons originalen Rolling Stone Essay von 1969 und Fotos von Mike Randolf am Set der TV-Show.

Der Rolling Stones Rock And Roll Circus Soundtrack wurde auf 28 Tracks erweitert, darunter Material des verstorbenen Konzertpianisten Julius Katchen, drei bisher nie gezeigte Songs von Taj Mahal und zuvor unveröffentlichte Aufnahmen von The Dirty Mac wie dem Beatles Klassikers "Revolution" und dem passend betitelten Track "Warmup Jam".
