Based on a true story, a grandfather with terminal cancer reflects on life lessons as he rides around in his scooter, dressed in military (Army) attire to honor his grandson. In the book he is spending time with his great grandson and reminding him how bravery and courage are two of his greatest assets. He lets reader's know that "it's okay" to feel sad at times. Through illustrations and lyrics that rhyme, he leaves a legacy of love for his family and others. In the face of his illness, he is determined to find a way to allow others to honor him through his life lessons. He decides to share his Papa stories as way for his great-grandchildren to remember him as they grow. An honest and relatable depiction of life, Papa's Scooter, a legacy of love celebrates life and the ways in which love lives on. This book gives cancer patients and families hope reminds us that each day brings new healing. The grandfather even references his place of birth "Puerto Rico" although he resides in the United States. The book was written by the daughter of the main character in his honor. She is a Doctorate student at Barry University, graduating May 2025. This book can be helpful for families that have a grandparent diagnosed with cancer, hospitals to keep in their lobby, libraries (virtual and on-site), schools and military families as way to promote bonding through reading. The book is easy to read as the rhyming lyrics allow listeners to smile.

Lori Marie Huertas served as the Director of Program Impact where she supports Community Resources, Family Support Services, Education and Social Enterprise programs as a way to give back to the GES community that endured recent gentrification with a community garden where members can grow healthy foods to sell at a weekly Farmers Market and keep the proceeds for the economic inclusion of their families. Focus Points supports immigrants and refugees as they learn how to open up their own culturally diverse restaurant, catering business or food truck through our social enterprise program at Comal located in the Rino District. As a first generation daughter of an amazing dad who never went to college as he worked to take care of his family as one of 10 children, his words "puedes lograr lo que sea" echo in my mind and bring joy to my heart as I blow him and mom kisses in the wind knowing they are in heaven looking down and smiling as they see me continue their legacy of impact through love.

She is also a professor at MSU Denver and the University of Denver that knows about sacrifice, loyalty and determination as an Army Mom, Doctoral student and bilingual Children's book author that was chosen as a reader for Max Rhymes bilingual books to children on a YouTube channel called StoryTime with Abuela. Before her parents passed her video was shared with teachers and military kids all around the world.

Born in NY and raised in Puerto Rican she is now a proud now Denver based Hispanic Latina that wrote and published a children's book about her dad called "Papas Scooter a legacy of love ". She is also the coauthor of the Taylor and Francis published book "The Christian Therapist Notebook"
