You may have heard the story that x-rays are super dangerous and can lead to various health problems, including cancer. However, do you know to what extent these stories are myths or truths? It's common for people to be curious about radiology, especially because professionals use equipment that utilises x-rays and gamma rays to produce medical examinations. Since the discovery of X-rays, the use of this type of radiation has ceased to be just a way of generating images of the human body and has become an important tool for diagnostic imaging and therapy methods that provide even more advanced techniques. Technology helps healthcare professionals plan the different stages and procedures so that the final results of treatments are faster and more accurate. So we shouldn't be afraid, we need to understand the ways in which we can best take advantage of its benefits, and the best protection is information and knowledge about what x-rays are and what this radiation can cause.
