In einer einzigartigen gemeinsamen Retrospektive zeigen das Castello di Rivoli und das Centre Pompidou die länderübergreifende zweiteilige Ausstellung Nalini Malani: The Rebellion of the Dead, Retrospective 1969-2018. Der Katalog zum zweiten Teil der Ausstellung enthält drei neue Artikel, eine umfangreiche und reich bebilderte Übersicht der Exponate, Bibliografie und Biografie - in enger Zusammenarbeit mit dem Archiv der Künstlerin zusammengestellt. Band I und II belegen gemeinsam auf eindrückliche Weise, welch bedeutende Pionierrolle Nalini Malani in Film, Fotografie, Videokunst und Performance einnimmt. Als weltweit anerkannte Künstlerin verbindet sie die moderne und die zeitgenössische Kunst Indiens mit ihrer eigenen künstlerischen Ausdrucksweise, die in ihren berühmten Video-Schatten-Spielen besonders prägnant zum Ausdruck kommt.

In a unique collaborative retrospective, the museums Castello di Rivoli and Centre Pompidou have featured the transnational two-part exhibition Nalini Malani: The Rebellion of the Dead, Retrospective 1969-2018 . The catalogue of Part II contains three new articles, the descriptions of each of the artworks, an extensive and richly illustrated exhibition list, bibliography and biography, compiled in collaboration with the archive of the artist. Together catalogue of Part I and Part II form a seminal document on Nalini Malani as the pioneering politically engaged artist in film, photography, video art and performance, between the modern and contemporary art of India along with her positioning as a globally respected senior female artist with her own language which excels in her widely known video/shadow plays.
