En savoir plus

Can a burrowing owl - who can't fly - and a snowy owl - who can't run - ever be friends?

Oscar is an owl; a COOL owl. And cool owls DO NOT fly - they RUN. ZOOOOOOOOOM! So when snowy owl Reggie comes along, swooping and swooshing through the sky, Oscar's not impressed at all. But when Reggie crashes into a tree, Oscar discovers that maybe they are not so different from one another after all...

A funny and heartwarming story about how being different is cool. It introduces the burrowing owl and their spectacular legs and beautiful burrows to small children.

A propos de l'auteur

I have written lots of picture book stories (including Mungo and the Picture Book Pirates, Dinosaurs in the Supermarket and Eleanor’s Eyebrows) and a few books for older children (of which my favourite is My Uncle Foulpest: Dinosaur Disaster). I write funny stories mostly, and, when I’m not writing for children, I write plays and I co-write musicals (with clever people who can write music because I can’t). I live in Surrey, which is very nice – but disappointingly empty of dragons.Born in New Zealand, Jason Cockcroft grew up in the north of England and studied illustration at Falmouth University. He has illustrated numerous picture books and fiction titles for all ages, most notably contributing the cover artwork for three of the original UK editions of the Harry Potter series. His debut fiction title We Were Wolves published in 2021 and was longlisted for the Carnegie Medal. He has also illustrated the picture book Owls are Cool by TImothy Knapman and his authorial picture book Night Walk.
