Additionally, as "cohabitable bodies," buildings enable us to share the normally subjective experiences of this, here and now. This Here Now is the first book to analyze Japanese architecture from a phenomenological perspective, explaining how buildings can be designed to both celebrate and help us to overcome our separateness as individuals.

Kevin Nute teaches architecture at the University of Hawai'i, M noa. His other books include Naturally Animated Architecture, Place, Time and Being in Japanese Architecture, and Frank Lloyd Wright and Japan.
