Little Sunita and her family are trying to start a new life after a terrible fire. Their home and possessions—including all of Sunita's schoolbooks and toys—burned to ashes in the blaze. Worst of all, their puppy Taro is missing.
Sunita’s parents are busy building their new home, and no one has time to listen to Sunita's worries. But she is lucky enough to have an observant teacher, who comes to her aid. The teacher takes Sunita to meet her doctor friend and she teaches Sunita how to knit a new sleep toy to replace the missing one.
Sunita learns that you can be wounded not only on the outside but also beneath the surface. Fortunately, both can heal.

Lilla Sunita och hennes familj försöker att bygga upp ett nytt liv efter en fruktansvärd eldsvåda. Deras hem och ägodelar ¿ däribland alla Sunitas skolböcker och leksaker ¿ förvandlades till aska i lågorna. Det värsta är, att deras hundvalp Taro saknas.
Sunitas föräldrar är fullt upptagna med att bygga ett nytt hus, och har inte tid att lyssna på Sunitas bekymmer. Men som tur är, har Sunita en uppmärksam lärarinna, som kommer till hennes räddning. Lärarinnan tar med Sunita till en läkarvän. Sedan lär hon flickan att sticka ett nytt gosedjur som ersättning till det, som hon förlorade i branden.
Nu börjar Sunita förstå att man kan bli skadad både på utsidan, och insidan, av kroppen. Lyckligtvis, kan man bota båda.

Tuula Pere (b. 1958) holds a Ph.D. in Law and is an award-winning children's author from Helsinki, Finland. Her doctoral dissertation, published in 2015, examines the limits of freedom of speech in the Finnish mass media amidst the social and cultural shifts of the 1960s and 1970s. Prior to her doctoral research, Tuula Pere had a career spanning over two decades as a lawyer and held various expert and executive positions in large industrial companies.Since 2010, Tuula Pere has published over sixty children's books, many of which have been translated into multiple languages. She has also authored poetry and aphorisms for children, as well as short stories and non-fiction for adults. Tuula Pere is an avid music and sports enthusiast and a keen baker. She is married and the mother of three.
