Dabei war es nicht meine Absicht, auch nur in blossen Umrissen die ganze Evolutionslehre wiederm geben; indessen war ich bestrebt, die Theorie von der Zuchtwahl der Natur in einer Weise darzustellen dass jeder denkende Leser sich danach eine klare Anschauung von den Darwin'schen Leistungen bilden und ein Ver ständniss der Wichtigkeit und Tragweite seines grossen Principe gewinnen könnte.
