Am 9. Februar 1873 legte Francesco Selmi der Akademie von 8010gna jene berühmt gewordene Abhandlung vor, in welcher er die Behauptung aufstellte, daß in jeder Leich'e, gleichgiltig wodurch der Tod erfolgte, nach dem Verfahren von stas-otto alka loidische Substanzen nachgewiesen werden können, welche den Ge richtschemiker sehr leicht irreführen können (k obert, a. A. O. S. Indem sie durch ihre Wirkungen und chemischen Reaktionen Pflanzen gifte vorzutänschen vermögen. Er nannte diese Körper Ptoma'ine*)
