Nel gennaio del 1876, io, desideroso di aver qualche notizia sulle Dan;e Ma cabre, a me note solo di nome, ne do mandava l'egregio mio professore Ales sandro d'ancona la cui dottrina in tal sorta di cose è ormai da tutti conosciuta. Dopo aver risposto alle generali inter rogazioni che io gli aveva fatte, e dopo avermi mostrato parecchi libri stranieri sull'argomento della Morte, egli mi parlò dell' utilità di un lavoro che studiasse le vicende delle rappresentazioni mortuarie.
