The present edition is a careful representa of the manuscript preserved in the British Muse which is in a writing of the thirteenth cent] A few notes have been added, intended pa as popular illustrations of the historical allusir and partly to explain the language or the variati of the manuscripts. In the former, I have hesitated to make full use of the notes given v the text in Mr Petrie's volume.
