Excerpt from Annual Announcement of the Faculty of Medicine of McGill College, Montreal, for the Session 1856-57
In making this announcement to the Profession and Laity of the British North American Provinces, the Faculty takes advantage of the opportunity to draw their attention to several features by which the School of Medicine over which it presides is character ized; which seems the more requisite, as the school has maintained the number of its pupils in the face of a powerful opposition in numerous rival schools, which have been originated, and are still likely to originate, in various parts of Canada.
