A propos de l'auteur

Born in Bristol, England, Samuel Wesley was the son of noted Methodist and hymn-writer Charles Wesley and the nephew of John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist church.
Samuel Wesley was indisputably the greatest English organist of his day. His compositions were numerous and varied, and some are of the highest excellence. His instrumental music shows that he was to a certain extent a pioneer of the symphonic style in England, but it has sunk into oblivion. He is remembered by his choral works, notably the motets, which still receive fairly frequent performance in English cathedrals and elsewhere.
Samuel Wesley died in 1837 and was buried in Saint Marylebone Old Parish Church, London.
