COUREURS D EPICES -LES-

L'Orient utilisait bien avant nous racines, graines et fruits aux mille vertus, mais c'est en Occident que le désir d'épices servit de prétexte à l'exploration du monde, à sa démythification et à sa conquête, à la saga du capitalisme et à une course à la domination des grands réseaux dont la valeur se mesurait en tonnes de poivre et sachets de safran.
Cette quête d'horizons lointains se joua comme une course de relais dont Rome, Byzance, Alexandrie et Venise se passèrent le témoin, jusqu'à ce que les Portugais inventent la route africaine et remportent la mise... que les Hollandais leur ravirent à leur tour.
Autant d'aventures qui furent pour beaucoup dans la formation de la conscience européenne.
