Empedokles wird auf dem Aetna von feinem Weib und feinen Kindern befucht. Ihren zartlichen Bitten fezt das Weib die Nachricht hinzu, daß an demfelben Tage die A grigentiner ihm eine Statue errichten. Ehre und Liebe, die einzigen Bande, die [ihn] ans Wirk liche knüpfen, bringen ihn zurük. Seine Schüler kom men voll Freude in fein Haus, der Liebling ftürzt ihm an den Hals. Er fiehet feine Statue errichtet, dankt Öffentlich dem Volke, das ihm Beifall zuruft.
