Kollegen, Schüler und Freunde Reinhard Thöles aus der Ukraine, Rumänien, Tschechien und Deutschland sind mit byzantinisch-orthodoxen, griechisch-katholischen, römisch-katholischen und evangelischen Perspektiven auf Theologie, Liturgie und Geschichte der Ostkirchen und der Ökumene in der Festgabe vereint.
Die Verbindung von geistlicher Gemeinschaft und theologischem Gespräch suchen auch die im Anhang des Bandes enthaltenen Beiträge zu den Dialoggesprächen zwischen der Orthodoxen Bischofskonferenz (OBKD) und Evangelischer Kirche in Deutschland (EKD). Im seit 2013 geführten EKD-OBKD-Dialog stellen die Gesprächspartner nicht in klassischer Weise ihre eigene Position dar, sondern versuchen, gastweise die Position des Gesprächspartners einzunehmen, um einen Beitrag zum besseren gegenseitigen Verstehen zwischen Orthodoxie und Protestantismus zu leisten.
