Development of a web map for a traditional map publishing company - - An usability engineering approach -

Since the introduction of the online map service GoogleMaps in 2005 the online mapping experience changed. The usability and possibilities of those so-called "web maps" are numerous and they are used in our everyday life. The most important function is route determination. In this work the development of a "web map" for a traditional map publishing company is discussed. The central question is what this "web map" should look like and what content it should have. The "web map" should have basic functionality and a purchase function where the user can buy printed map material. The workflow from the initial idea to the final product is examined in detail.

A propos de l'auteur

Robert Philipp studied Geodesy and Geoinformatics at Vienna UT. Subsequently he successfully absolved the Master's program of Cartography and Geomatics Engineering, also at Vienna UT.After an internship at the "Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt" (DLR) he specialised on remote sensing and works in the field of earth observation.
