Die neue Publikation von Paul McCarthy (*1945 in Salt Lake City) ist die um 128 Seiten erweiterte Ausgabe von Chocolate Factory. Pretext. Es ist die eindrucksvolle Dokumentation der ersten großen Einzelausstellung des Künstlers in Frankreich. Sie illustriert sowohl die Konzeption der Ausstellung als auch ihre Überarbeitung als Reaktion auf den Angriff auf Paul McCarthy, der sich während des Aufbaus seiner Skulptur Christmas Tree auf dem Place Vendôme zutrug. Neben der Illustration der Verwandlung der prachtvollen Ausstellungsräume von Monnaie de Paris durch die fortgesetzte Produktion von Schokoladen-Weihnachtsbäumen, die in immer neuen Regalen ausgestellt werden, wird auch die Videoarbeit vorgestellt, in der sich Paul McCarthy mit der sowohl physischen als auch verbalen Attacke (are you the f. . .ing artist?) auseinander setzt.

The publication by Paul McCarthy (*1945 in Salt Lake City) is a new edition of Chocolate Factory: Pretext, which has been expanded by 128 pages. It is the striking documentation of the artists’ first major solo exhibition in France. It illustrates both the concept of the exhibition as well as its working-over in response to an attack on Paul McCarthy that occurred during the installation of his sculpture Christmas Tree on Place Vendôme. Besides the illustration of the transformation of the magnificent exhibition spaces of Monnaie de Paris through the continued production of chocolate Christmas trees, which are exhibited on ever-new shelves, it also presents the video in which Paul McCarthy deals with both the physical as well as the verbal attack (Are you the f. . .ing artist?).
