Jean-Patrick Manchette, geboren 1942 in Marseille, liebte Jazz, Kino und Literatur. Er arbeitete als Drehbuchautor und veröffentlichte Kriminalromane, von denen die meisten verfilmt wurden. 1995 starb Manchette im Alter von nur 52 Jahren in Paris. Er wurde zur Leitfigur für eine neue Generation von Krimiautoren in Frankreich.
