Today it is known that the atomic nuclei are composed of smaller constituents, the quarks. A quark is always bound with two other quarks, forming a baryon or with an antiquark, forming a meson.

A propos de l'auteur
Harald Fritzsch, geboren 1943 in Zwickau, ist seit 1980 Professor für Theoretische Physik an der Universität München. Er arbeitete bei Werner Heisenberg und forschte am California Institute of Technology zusammen mit Richard P. Feynman und Murray Gell-Mann. Er ist ein herausragender theoretischer Physiker und zugleich wie einst Feynman ein großer Vermittler moderner Physik.
