Informationen zum Autor James Ker-Lindsay is the Eurobank EFG Senior Research Fellow on the Politics of South East Europe at the London School of Economics. His previous books include Kosovo: The Path to Contested Statehood in the Balkans (I.B.Tauris)! Crisis and Conciliation: A Year of Rapprochement Between Greece and Turkey (I.B.Tauris) and EU accession and UN peacemaking in Cyprus. He also has a practical background in conflict resolution! previously serving as the co-ordinator of the Greek-Turkish Forum at the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies (RUSI). Hubert Faustmann is Associate Professor in International Relations at the University of Nicosia! Cyprus. He is the editor of the academic journal The Cyprus Review and president of the Cyprus Academic Forum (CAF). He has published extensively on the history and politics of modern Cyprus and was co-editor of Britain in Cyprus: Colonialism and Post-Colonialism 1878-2006 and of Reunifying Cyprus: The Annan Plan and Beyond (I.B.Tauris). Fiona Mullen is the founding Director of Sapienta Economics Ltd! an economic analysis and research company. She frequently writes for the Economist Intelligence Unit and the Cyprus Centre of the International Peace Research Institute! Oslo (PRIO). She has also worked as economic adviser in the Secretary-General's Good Offices mission in Cyprus! the office charged with facilitating a settlement of the Cyprus problem. The celebrations which marked the accession of the Republic of Cyprus to the European Union on 1st May 2004 signalled the end of a fourteen year process since the island had first applied to join - and the end of six full years of complicated and intense negotiations.
