soil is the basis for life as it is the foothold for plants on which other lives are dependent. In any ecosystem, soils have five key roles. The knowledge about the soil should be comprehensive and supported with the practical management principles. This book enables to acquire all round knowledge on the introduction of Soil Science, functions and concepts of soil, soil forming factors and processes. Moreover, physical, chemical and biological properties of soils are briefly discussed in subsequent chapters. I obtained my BSc degree in Plant Sciences at Alemaya University and MSc degree in Environmental science at Addis Ababa University. With respect to experience, I was Agronomist at Agriculture and Rural development office in Amhara National Regional State. Currently, I am instructor and researcher at Wollo University in Lecturer position.
