OLIVIA WILSON is Lecturer in Geography at De Montfort University, Bedford and at the University of Otago, New Zealand. She has published articles on rural development in Britain, agricultural policy in New Zealand and rural restructuring in the ex-German Democratic Republic. The authors investigate the effect of reunification on German policy today, and ask whether she has acted as leader, partner or obstructor in the formation of policy.
