Dr. Abid Ali Khan is Head of the Aeronautical Engineering Department at the Military Technological College, Oman, providing strategic and academic leadership. He is Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Chartered Engineer, Fellow of IMechE (UK), and Associate Fellow of AIAA (USA). His research spans aircraft design, fluid mechanics, aeroelasticity, renewable energy, and higher education management. With prior roles as Aircraft Designer and Chief Engineer Production, he brings rich industry experience to academia. He has led program development and played a key role in securing Washington Accord recognition for Pakistan.
Dr. Mohammad Sayeed Hossain is Senior Lecturer and Research Coordinator at the Military Technological College, Oman. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Bristol (2005) and specializes in residual stress analysis using experimental and computational methods. He has led projects in aerospace, power systems, and infrastructure and developed the VEQTER-UK stress database. A Chartered Engineer (CEng MIMechE) and Senior Fellow of HEA (SFHEA), he has provided consultancy services to JNES, EDF, and James Fisher Nuclear.
Dr. Mohammad Fotouhi is Associate Professor at TU Delft and Director of the Material Health Monitoring group. His research focuses on smart composites, autonomous inspection, and low-cost sensors for aerospace, infrastructure, and renewable energy. He has led projects funded by NWO, EPSRC, and Horizon Europe, and supervised Ph.D., M.Sc., and postdoc researchers. A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, he is active in Composites-NL, RILEM and serves on the editorial boards of IEEE Sensors Review, Composite Materials, and Engineering and Technology. He is widely recognized for his leadership in structural health monitoring and sustainable engineering.
Dr. Axel Steuwer is an experienced R&I professional with over 20 years of involvement in academia, industrial R&I, large-scale research infrastructure, and public authorities across EU countries. He is skilled in science strategy, innovation policy, lobbying, project management, capacity building, and resource mobilization at local, regional, and EU levels. With a Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering from the University of Cambridge, Dr. Steuwer has a strong background in industrial R&D&I and stakeholder engagement.
Prof. Dr. Md Abdul Maleque, Professor of Materials Engineering at IIUM since 2009, is ranked among the top 2% of scientists globally by Stanford (2022–2024). A Chartered Engineer and Fellow of IMechE UK, he specializes in sustainable composites, tribology, surface engineering, and energy materials. He has led numerous research projects, supervised postgraduates, served global advisory boards, and spoken as keynote and invited speakers at international conferences. He also consults for industry and contributes to academic program and standards development in Malaysia.
Dilek Funda Kurtulus earned her B.S. (2000) and M.S. (2002) in aerospace engineering from METU, Ankara, and a Ph.D. from ENSMA/Université de Poitiers, France. She conducted postdoctoral research in Poitiers and Orléans in 2006. Since 2018, she has been a professor at METU. Her research focuses on aircraft design, unsteady aerodynamics, and UAVs. Her honors include the Amelia Earhart Fellowship (2005), NATO Scientific Achievement Award (2011), TÜBA Young Scientist Award (2012), and Zonta Centennial Award (2019).
