Human activities give significant impact to dynamic environmental change. Although humans live from the environment but they ignore environmental sustainability which resulting environmental degradation, then it caused various disasters. Floods are one of the impacts of environmental degradation. Land use changes from vegetation (forest, mix garden, plantation) to non-vegetation (urban, settlement, industry, land clearing) increased intensity of floods event. Flood as a result of environmental degradation, could be used as learning object by analyzing its caused factors. Students identify its caused factors by observing and analyzing floods event at disaster area. They can make a simple analysis by relating data that observed from disaster area. So they will understand how environmental degradation could cause disaster. It's called outdoor study method. Outdoor study method is a part of learning process which could improve knowledge and awareness of the environment. Outdoor study method provides learning opportunities and real learning experience for the students. I hope this book will provide new teaching methology in environmental subject.
