This book systematically reviews the theory and practice in ocean policy and legal system since the foundation of the People s Republic of China, which is of great significance for China to speed up the construction of a maritime power and safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests. Through this book, the international community can further understand China s specific practice and achievements in developing and improving China's ocean law system by applying the principles and systems of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. Additionally, this book helps the international society understand China s ocean policy and legal system and shows China s role in the development of ocean industry and the image of a responsible country.
This book covers seven aspects of China s ocean policy and law, including formation and development of international ocean rules, achievements of new China in the ocean policy and legal system, measures and effects of new China in the ocean project, problems and tasks of new China in the ocean legal system, challenges of new China on ocean strategic issues, objectives and vision of China s ocean governance in the new era, opportunities for china to maintain and expand ocean rules.

Über den Autor / die Autorin
Prof. Yongming Jin was born in Sept. 1966 in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, China. He is a doctor of Law and Postdoctoral in Theoretical Economics. Currently, he is a professor and doctoral supervisor of the School of International Affairs and Public Administration in Ocean University of China, and senior research fellow of Institute of Marine Development,director of Sino-Australian Research Consortium for Coastal Management (Chinese side) and director of China Institute of Maritime Security. He is also a member of Academic Committee of Ocean University of China.
Prof. Jin’s research interests are International Law, Law of the Sea, Sino-Japanese Relations. So far, Prof. Jin has published more than 100 papers, over 200 theoretical and current commentary articles in magazines, newspapers, new media websites and 12 books on issues related to the law of the sea.
