This proceedings book comprehensively compiles the proceedings of the South East Asia-Japan Conference on Composite Materials 2024 (SEAJCCM 2024). Über den Autor / die Autorin










Dr. Norhayani Othman is a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Chemical and Energy Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). She is also a researcher in the Enhanced Polymer Research Group (EnPro), an associate member of Centre for Advanced Composite Materials (CACM), and a member of Material and Manufacturing Research Alliance (MMRA). She has a first degree and a master degree in polymer engineering from UTM and received her Ph.D. in chemical and biological engineering, University of British Columbia, Canada, in the year of 2012. Her current research interest includes plastic waste management, crystallisation and degradation behaviour of recycled plastics and biopolymers, melt rheology and processing.

Dr. Khoo Pui San is currently working as a post-doctoral researcher at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. She was awarded a scholarship by the Public Service Department (JPA) in 2012 to pursue a bachelor’s degree in wood science technology at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and successfully completed her studies in 2015. She received the MyBrain15 sponsorship from the Malaysian government to pursue a Ph.D. in biocomposite technology and design at the Institute of Tropical Forestry and Forest Products (INTROP) UPM. Dr. Khoo’s research interests include wood material science, wood machining, biocomposites, and polymer composites.

Dr. Lin Feng Ng is currently a post-doctoral researcher at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia. He completed his Ph.D. degree in 2021 at Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka, Malaysia. He received the Ph.D. Best Thesis Award from the Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka in 2022. In 2024, he was awarded the IOP Outstanding Reviewer award for reviewing the Engineering Research Express. He also received the IOP Trusted Reviewer Status in 2023. He is currently holding a post as a committee member of several international conferences. His research interests include fibre-metal laminates, polymer composites, hybrid composites, synthetic/natural fibres, mechanical characterisation, fatigue life assessment, and energy absorption.

Dr. R.A. Ilyas is a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Chemical and Energy Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Malaysia. He is also a fellow of International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM), Sweden, a fellow of International Society for Development and Sustainability (ISDS), Japan, a member of Royal Society of Chemistry, UK, and Institute of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), UK, a chair of Science Outreach for Young Scientists Network—Academy of Sciences Malaysia (YSN-ASM) 2023. He received his diploma in forestry, bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in chemical engineering, and Ph.D. degree in the field of biocomposite technology and design at Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia. R.A. Ilyas was the recipient of the MVP Doctor of Philosophy Gold Medal Award UPM 2019, for Best Ph.D. Thesis and Top Student Award, INTROP, UPM. To date, he has authored or co-authored more than 600 publications on green materials related subjects.

Dr. Sanjay Mavinkere Rangappa is currently working as a principal research scientist and associate professor. He received the B.Eng. (mechanical engineering) in the year 2010, M.Tech. (computational analysis in mechanical sciences) in the year 2013, Ph.D. (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Science) from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, India, in the year 2018, and post doctorate from King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, Thailand, in the year 2019. He is a life member of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and an associate member of Institute of Engineers (India). He is an associate editor of Heliyon Elsevier (Materials Science) and Frontier Materials Journals. He is also acting as a board member of various international journals in the fields of materials science and composites. He is an academic visitor to School of Mechanical and Design Engineering, University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth, United Kingdom.
