At the age of three, his mother abandoned him in the middle of the forest, tied to a post. At the age of five, his father beat him nearly to death. After a long recovery in hospital, he entered an orphanage, where he discovered institutional abuse. He then visited psychiatric asylums, foster families and juvenile prisons, before arriving as a fugitive at the age of twelve on the streets of Paris, where he found a world of theft, fighting, blackmail and prostitution. His name is Tim Guénard and this book is the story of his life. It is not a novel, but the raw testimony of a life wounded by a terrible fate. Against all odds, his immense thirst for freedom and love will lead him in search of a lost humanity and a possible happiness. Factors that determine resilience - the encounter with people with whom he establishes a strong emotional bond, artistic sensitivity and the innate capacity for overcoming and forgiveness - will stop his free fall and teach him that there is an alternative.
