Work-life balance in tourism - Compatible or not? The opportunities and challenges in the tourism industry. DE

This thesis examines work-life balance (WLB) in tourism, an industry that is usually characterized by long working hours, stress and irregular shifts. It sheds light on how these challenges affect work-life balance and which factors are crucial to achieving a balance. Through a comprehensive literature review and empirical interviews with tourism employees in Tyrol, the current conditions are analyzed and possible measures to improve work-life balance are identified. The results provide valuable insights and practical recommendations to improve the quality of life of tourism employees and thus increase the attractiveness of the industry.

My name is Kathrin Döhrn and I come from Germany. I completed my training in the tourism sector and my studies in business, health and sports tourism in Austria in October 2023. I have always worked in tourism and would like to use this work to highlight the challenges of the industry.
