This book has three goals, to teach Tamil as a new language, to read Tamil instantly and increase reading speed and fluency of the learner. When using this book in a classroom setting, the lessons can be used for two semesters. Though the book is meant to be read with the help of a teacher, the phonetic pronunciation guide for each letter, makes it a great tool for self learners too. The exercises at the back of each lesson is good for review and assessment.. Through this simple book, the Tamil language learners will be able to have a strong basis to the writings. The author has been imparting this training to individuals of different ages and languages.with great success.
*This book does not cover the usual Sanskrit letters .

Dr. Mei Chitra holds a Ph.D. in computing, She is a pioneer in taking the importance of her native language, the Tamil to the present generation. As a result of her love for Tamil, she has published more than fifteen books in Tamil. Through the Children's Cultural Group and the Tamil Heritage Movement, she taught the Tamil language and its ancient history to Hong Kong Tamil children during her twenty-year residency in Hong Kong. She has been teaching children to easily speak Tamil with clarity, using theatrical performances. Moreover, her experience will have significant impact on the next generation of the Tamil diaspora.
