Le Congrès international des études démotiques, organisé pour la première fois en France (2005), a rassemblé une centaine de participants venus de quatre continents. Ces Actes réunissent 26 contributions touchant les domaines littéraire, religieux et documentaire.
On notera d'abord l'édition de textes nouveaux, comme une Sagesse fragmentaire, le début du papyrus Insinger, des extraits du Livre des morts écrits en démotique, une lettre concernant un fugitif dans le Delta ou encore un modèle pour la rédaction de documents légaux ; un texte narratif centré sur le personnage d'Imhotep est également présenté. Le volume offre en outre plusieurs études autour de l'astrologie et d'autres traitant de questions administratives, anthroponymiques, prosopographiques ou grammaticales. Des approches diachroniques et des recoupements littéraires - avec, par exemple, les Akousmata pythagoriciennes et les Sortes d'Astrampsychos ou encore les sentences grecques - sont aussi proposés. Enfin, les travaux en cours dans la nécropole d'Abousir, sur diverses bases de données et sur l'histoire de la discipline complètent cet ouvrage.
The International Conference of Demotic Studies, held for the first time in France (2005), attracted a hundred participants from four continents.The present Acts volume contains 26 papers and covers literary, religious and documentary material.
A fragmentary wisdom text, the beginning of papyrus Insinger, extracts from the Book of the Dead in Demotic, a letter concerning a fugitive in the Delta and a template for the drawing up of various legal texts are among the papyri which are published for the first time ; a narrative in which the famous Imhotep appears to play a central role is presented as well.The volume also contains several papers which concern the world of astrology, discussions of administrative, onomastic, prosopographical and grammatical questions, diachronic studies, and comparisons of demotic material with works like the Pythagorical Akousmata, the Sortes Astrampsychi and Greek maxims. Reports on the status of work in the Abusir necropolis, on databases and on the history of Demotic studies complete the book.
