Orphan Ettie Shaw is penniless and homeless on the streets of London when she is spotted by her older brother Joe.
Joe has fallen in with a notorious pickpocket gang run by a man called Fagin, and Ettie has to disguise herself as a boy so she can come back with him to Fagin's lair.

Über den Autor / die Autorin

Karen McCombie was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, in 1963. She now lives in London with her husband, daughter and fat ginger cat.

Anneli Bray is an illustrator, artist and maker based in the North West of England. Anneli illustrates stories and characters influenced by her love of wonder, belonging and adventure. She graduated with a First in Illustration and has since illustrated for Vita Murrow in her children’s book, Onyx: The Wolf Who Found a New Way to be a Leader. Anneli’s debut picture book, The Last Garden, was published in 2021, with more exiting work to come.
