Principles of Thermodynamics

The branch of physics which deals with temperature and heat, and their relation to energy, work, radiation, and properties of matter is known as thermodynamics. The four laws of thermodynamics form the basis for the behaviors of these quantities.These laws are the zeroth, first, second and third law of thermodynamics. The zeroth law defines thermal equilibrium. The first law of thermodynamics is related to the principle of the conservation of energy. The second law deals with the flow of heat and how it cannot flow from a colder object to a hotter object. The third law defines how all processes would stop if the temperature of a system becomes zero. There are various branches of thermodynamics such as classical thermodynamics, equilibrium thermodynamics, chemical thermodynamics and statistical thermodynamics.
