For too many years, youth ministry has been about keeping young people entertained in order to keep them out of trouble. Making Room contends that the primary purpose of youth ministry is to integrate young people into the body and mission of Christ. A lifelong youth ministry practitioner and researcher, Michael A. Kipp shares the narrative of his and others' experiences in order to help the church embrace and understand youth ministry more fully in practice, not just in theory. Kipp dares to dream beyond the normal youth ministry template to develop a whole-church system that grafts young people into a body they will want to be part of well into adulthood.

Michael A. Kipp is the associate professor of youth and family ministry at Northwest Nazarene University in Idaho. Prior to coming to NNU, Mike spent 13 years working with youth in California, Kansas, and Idaho. Mike Kipp is a husband, father, youth worker of 15+ years, and now the Michael earned his doctorate in Youth, Family and Culture at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena California in 2009. Michael is married to Sandy and they enjoy playing and traveling with their two children Spencer and McKenna. When not reading, writing, correcting, advising, teaching, or preparing, Michael loves to wrestle with his kids and have family dance parties.
