The Modern Art Collection (Sammlung Moderne Kunst) at the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich is one of the world's leading institutions for painting, sculpture, photography and new media. Bernhard Maaz has been the Director General of the Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlungen (Bavarian State Painting Collections) since 2015. He is the author of numerous publications on art from the Middle Ages to the present day.
