Cette thèse de Strzygowski ne peut être approuvée. Les Gars bulgares étaient vraiment de grands conquérants, mais ils n'étaient pas du tout disposés à faire des constructions monumentales. Ils ne réussirent jamais 'a créer une situation stable en Macédoine, y étant venus en conquérants, et c'est la principale raison pour laquelle ils n'ont pu arriver à y bâtir des églises. C'est vraiment surprenant de ne pas trouver en cette région la moindre trace de l'artbulgare et du nom bulgare.
