The object of this book is to assist English readers to understand on the one side the motive force and the significance of Zionist work-in Palestine, on the other side the conditions under which that work is being carried on, the progress which it has made, and the problems by which it is confronted. Some unavoid able delay in the appearance of the book has interposed a larger interval than might have been desirable between the writing of certain of the articles and their publication; but it is believed that in all matters of importance the information given about Pales tinian conditions is substantially up-to-date.
