This apology, though given in the form of a poem, can hardly be regarded as an attempt at poetry. Bunyan wished to write a familiar epistle in a homely fashion; to communicate his thoughts on certain matters, and not to win admiration for the elaborate finish of his verses, was undoubtedl} his object.
