Excerpt from Maulbronn: Eine Studie zur Deutschromanischen Bauentwicklung des XII. Jahrhunderts
Im Jahre 1138 wurde ein Zisterzienserkloster von Walter von Lomersheim in Eckenweiler gegründet und mit Mönchen aus Neuburg im Elsass besetzt; 1146 oder 1147 siedelten sie nach Maulbronn über. Der Beginn des Kirchenbaues wird nicht gemeldet; 1178 wurde die Kirche eingeweiht.1 Damit ist die Reihe der über lieferten bau;geschichtlichen Daten erschöpft.
