Musicien essentiel du jazz moderne, Bill Evans a laissé l'empreinte d'une grande sensibilité, dans sa création aussi bien que dans son interprétation. S'il est vrai qu'il n'a sans doute pas aux yeux du grand public la place qu'il mérite, il n'en demeure pas moins une figure majeure du piano de la seconde moitié du vingtième siècle qui nous a laissé une vision singulière et très personnelle de la musique.
Bill Evans was essential to modern jazz, a musician who left the imprint of his immense sensibility on both his creations and his performances. While it is true that the public did not hold him in the esteem he deserved, he would nonetheless remain a major pianist of the latter half of the 20th century, and a figure who left us a singular, highly personal vision of music.
