Excerpt from Two Sermons on Infidelity: Delivered October 24, 1813
IN these words we are informed, that the preaching Jesus, although accompanied with numerous and nu tceptionable miracles, was far from producing univer lbelief. The leaders of the Jewish people were of nded by his humble appearance, and stung by his re wofs; and were unwearied and successful in infusing leir own bad passions into the obedient multitude. Vhen we consider the character and expectations of the wish rulers and people, nothing is more easy than to. Count for their rejection of Jesus Christ; and certainly blame or suspicion should be attached to Jesus, be Iuse such men rejected him.
